Travis and Emma’s wedding at Sydonie Mansion in Mount Dora, Florida, was romantic, whimsical, and ethereal—with a timeless, European-inspired garden feel. The day was soft and storybook from start to finish, with deep reds and blush tones, gentle emotions, and an unhurried kind of love that makes everything feel a little more cinematic.
I met Travis and Emma through their planner, Kristy Rapp Events, who I always love working alongside. Then I also captured their Taylor Swift-inspired engagement session! Travis and Emma are incredibly adoring—fully present with each other and quick to laugh. They live in Seattle, but chose a Florida winter wedding to soak up the season and celebrate outdoors in a setting that still felt historic, romantic, and refined.
Sydonie Mansion is a gorgeous historic estate wedding venue in Mount Dora, Florida. (I love capturing love stories at Sydonie, and you can read more about why in my venue highlight here!) Modeled after a real Spanish castle, the mansion and grounds are designed with Mediterranean and Asian design influences. The estate was built in 1883 and later remodeled in 1903—it’s the perfect example of true old-world architecture and craftsmanship that makes everything feel elevated the second you arrive.
If you’re searching for an outdoor wedding venue near Orlando that also offers beautiful indoor spaces, Sydonie Mansion is designed for that. Booking this historic estate for your wedding includes access to event spaces like the front lawn facing the lake, the boathouse, the wrap-around covered front porch, covered arcade walkways, and the Spanish courtyard. You get a beautiful variety—lake views, gardens and courtyards, so every moment photographs like a movie.

Getting ready at Sydonie Mansion was full of sweet moments—Emma surrounded by her girls and those quiet little check-ins with her mom that kept everything grounded. The wedding party brought such a classic look: the guys in black tie, the bridesmaids in deep burgundy dresses, and Emma in a timeless off-the-shoulder gown with her hair styled in loose waves.
Before the day started moving too fast, I took time to photograph the details that set the tone for the entire celebration. Emma’s invitation suite had art deco styling that looked amazing against Sydonie’s historic textures—gold lines, elegant shapes, and a refined design that hinted at old-world glamour. Her jewelry carried that same classic energy: her emerald cut diamond ring and pearl-encrusted earrings photographed beautifully alongside the stationery.

One of the things I do with every couple is one-on-one timeline planning time before the wedding, where we talk through hopes, priorities, and how they want the day to feel. Travis and Emma wanted soft romance—nothing forced, nothing overly posed, just intentional storytelling that felt like them.
Their first look happened in the Whimsy Garden, and it truly felt like a dream. Sydonie is an estate wedding venue that has so many pockets that feel like secret gardens—lush greenery, historic textures, and little corners that give you privacy without ever feeling far from the celebration. They were completely in their own world here, and that’s always my goal during a first look. I give gentle guidance, space to breathe, and enough direction that you feel confident while still staying fully present.

The weather on Emma and Travis’s wedding day was pure cinematic magic! Cloudy skies softened everything beautifully, and then, during portraits, the sky turned dreamy and cloudy as a light shower began. I’m not exaggerating when I say it felt like a scene from The Notebook. They laughed, embraced it, and Emma said, “We brought the rain,” with the best attitude.
This is exactly why I always encourage couples to build a timeline with breathing room. When you’re not rushing, you can pivot with the day instead of fighting it. And at a Sydonie Mansion wedding, those gardens and oak-lined paths look incredible in moody light—romantic, ethereal, and completely timeless.

Travis and Emma’s outdoor ceremony featured a floral arch that was one of my favorite details of the day. The blooms cascaded in blush and burgundy tones, and the wooden country chairs were finished with velvet burgundy ribbons tied to the backs—such a romantic, rich detail. Set beneath century-old oaks, they said “I do” surrounded by a garden courtyard that feels like a secret oasis.

After the ceremony, we captured wedding party photos around Sydonie Mansion. We used the estate’s covered walkways, courtyard spaces, and greenery to keep everything cohesive with their romantic deep red palette. This group had such a good spirit and it reminded me why I love capturing the true, joyful emotion that my couples and their loved ones feel.

The reception is one of my favorite things to capture as a Central Florida wedding photographer because it’s where couples really get to infuse the celebration with little moments that feel like them. Travis and Emma included a coffee bar, a photo booth with fun props, and fortune cookies (such a cute surprise), plus a heart-shaped cake from Le Petit Sweet. Everything about the reception matched their vibe: whimsical touches, romantic colors, and an atmosphere that felt joyful but still refined.

Standard rental gives you up to 10 hours of access to the venue, including set up and takedown. They offer varied pricing depending on the day of the week and for intimate weddings with less than 50 people. Reach out to Sydonie Mansion for current pricing details.
